Psalm 42 (LW)
Psalm 42 (LW) my soul thirsts for God where can I go to experience the refreshment of my God’s presence my tears are my food day and night while people call out “where is your God?” “Where is your faith?” these things I remember as I pour out my soul I was always at the head of the crowd leading them with shouts of praises singing thanksgiving – eager to worship, to feast on God why are you downcast, o my soul? why so disturbed within me? put your hope in God for I will yet praise Him my Savior and my God my soul is downcast within me, therefore I remember your love, your power the cross the empty tomb chaos calls to chaos your raging surf and thundering breakers tumble and crush me yet by day you direct your love at night your song is with me a prayer to the God of my life. I cry out to God, my rock “why have You forgotten me? why must I go on mourning?”
my bones suffer mortal agony people taunt me with their words their expectations “where is your God? where is your faith?” why so downcast, O my soul? put your hope in God for I will yet praise Him my Savior my God my Lover my Friend
